Coming to America 2 takes a massive step forwards as it lands a director

Paul Moore

Time to let your Soul Glo because the sequel is happening.

If you were asked to name the greatest band of all time, there’s only one appropriate answer. Sexual Chocolate.

Who? Well, they’re fronted by Randy Watson from Jackson Heights and they’re easily the greatest soul band to come out of Queens.

If you agree then “give yourselves a round of applause, you’re so lovely” because as we all know “that boy good!”. It’s just a shame that he’s prone to temper tantrums and stomping off stage like a petulant child.

Anywho, if you desperately want to catch up with the adventures of  Prince Akeem, his best friend Semmi and all of those auld lads that love talking about the greatest boxer of all time –  Joe Louis was 75 years old when he fought  Rocky Marciano – then we’ve some very good news for you because a director has been announced for Coming to America 2.

Jonathan Levine, the director of Warm Bodies and 50/50, will be teaming up with the creator of Black-ish, Kenya Barris, for a sequel that’s 30 years in the making.

Earlier this year, Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield were hired to write the follow-up and things are moving on quickly.

All we ask is that Stu, the bum that couldn’t pay his rent, makes another appearance.

The line: “Hey Stu, your rent’s due motherfucker! And don’t be pulling that falling down the stairs shit on me, you hear!” is forever ingrained in our brains.

Then again, nothing will ever top Samuel L. Jackson’s brief cameo when he tried to rob McDowells.
