Excellent news

May 2018 was a roller coaster for fans of the superlative NBC sitcom Brooklyn Nine Nine. After being cancelled by its original home Fox after five seasons, the show was quickly resurrected by NBC.

The sixth season is due to debut in 2019, and we are ecstatic to see that production has started. Various cast members have been sharing images on social media from the set, so we know it is really happening.

Jake Peralta himself, Andy Samberg, shared a photo of him on set with Terry Crews, Chelsea Peretti, Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero, and to be honest, they look as excited as we are.

Chelsea Peretti also posted some pics.

Melissa Fumero also got in on the action.

And Joe Lo Trugilo

As did Dirk Blocker, who plays Hitchcock.

If for some reason you haven’t watched it, Brooklyn Nine Nine is flat out one of the funniest sitcoms of the twenty-first century. Set in a New York police precinct, it has an absolutely incredible ensemble cast, headed up by Andy Samberg. It fires out rapid-fire gags at an astonishing speed, but also slowly builds up character moments that pay off beautifully down the line.

It has also been praised for having very diverse cast.

When NBC picked up the show from Fox, NBC Entertainment’s Chairman Robert Greenblatt professed his love for the show: “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home.

“Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

Now, can we just hurry up and get season five on Netflix UK, already?
