Bobby Davro’s fiancée Vicky Wright dies days after cancer news

Steve Hopkins

‘Incredible devastating news’

Actress Vicky Wright has died aged 63.

The fiancée of comedian Bobby Davro and daughter of England footballer Billy Wright, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.

Vicky’s daughter confirmed her mother’s passing on Wednesday night, writing on Twitter: “Hello everyone. Some incredibly devastating news to share as my wonderful mum Vicky has sadly passed away this morning.

“I wanted to use this platform to let you all know, as I know how much she valued all your love and support in so many ways.”

Last week, Bobby spoke about the “absolute agony” of watching Vicky battle the disease after he proposed to her in 2022, having been together for 12 years.

Discussing her battle, he said, according to The Mirror: “It’s extremely, extremely, extremely painful.”

Vicky’s dad, Wolverhampton Wanderers and England footballer Billy Wright had also battled the disease. He died in September 1994 aged 70, just months after his diagnosis.

Loose Women star Denise Welch penned: “So very sorry,” alongside three heart emojis.

Speaking to the Daily Star last week, Dancing On Ice star Bobby said: “To see someone as beautiful as her with this illness is horrific, it’s so sad.”

He added that he had tried to distract himself from the news with work, “because it keeps my mind off this for a bit of time”.

“I don’t want the fact I’m keeping working to sound selfish. Everyone who knows me knows it’s just a distraction for a bit of time from trying to help Vicky. I need to see people laughing, and I like that I can still make people laugh while dealing with this.”
