Arctic Monkeys are headlining a four-day festival that’s only £140

Paul Moore

The lineup and location are great.

Anticipation has a habit to set you up, for disappointment in summer entertainment but, tonight there’ll be some love, tonight there’ll be a ruckus yeah regardless of what’s gone before…because we’ve got some good festival news for you.

After they announced their festival plans for the summer, Arctic Moneys fans have been scrambling to see what festivals they can see Alex Turner and co. perform at.

Granted, tickets for Mad Cool Festival in Madrid have sold out but there are a few other cheap alternatives for anyone that fancies a road trip.

Primavera Sound takes place in Barcelona from 30 May – 3 June and is unofficially regarded as Europe’s finest music festival.

As such, the line-up for this year’s bash is quite mouthwatering indeed.

Aside from Sheffield’s finest, you’ve also got the likes of The National, Lorde, Four Tet, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Björk, The War on Drugs, Vince Staples, HAIM, Tyler, The Creator, Mogwai, Warpaint, A$AP Rocky and Father John Misty to name.

Thankfully, tickets are cheap, too, starting at £190 and if you’ve ever been to Barcelona then you’ll know that it’s not the worst place in the world to spend some time in.

Aside from this festival, if you would like to see the Arctic Monkeys on the cheap and fancy another wee road trip, Open’er Festival in Gydnia, Poland is extremely cheap.

How cheap? Well, £140  for a 4-day ticket and camping is pretty good, don’t you think?

Having been there before, I’m delighted to say that the people are all extremely friendly, the beer is cheap and the lineup is usually excellent – take a look here for proof.

Also, if you fancy breaking up the festival, the seaside town of Sopot is only a short drive away and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

As for the lineup, they’re still adding to it but Open’er Festival has already booked Bruno Mars, David Byrne, Fleet Foxes, Depeche Mode, Gorillaz and Massive Attack. Expect plenty more to follow in the next few weeks.
