Alastair Campbell joined Susanna Reid as guest host of Good Morning Britain on Monday and while he's only there for less than a week, he's already made a bit of a royal cock-up.
Admittedly, it was more a slip of the tongue than anything; while interviewing Vinnie Jones, he uttered the phrase: "We talked a lot about Prince Philip after the death of the Queen".
It took him a few minutes to realise his mistake (or for a producer to whisper in his ear), but he soon interrupted Jones to apologise for the blunder: "Can I just say something, I think I may have accidentally announced the death of the Queen. I meant Prince Philip of course". Smooth, like butter.
Co-host Reid said that, naturally, "I think people understood exactly what you meant" but you'd be surprised, Susanna; plenty of people quickly took Twitter, albeit, many just to point out the obvious slip-up, but some seemed more convinced than others.

Some took it a lot less humorously.

Might not be the best way to kick off just your third day on the job but it's certainly one way to make it memorable. Don't worry Alastair, we all have our moments.
Just to reiterate, The Queen is NOT dead.
