People can’t get over chilling interview with notorious serial killer on death row

Many have said there's some truth to his statements

An interview with the notorious serial killer Richard Ramirez has resurfaced on the internet, leading to many people agreeing with some of his statements. Ramirez, also known as the 'Night Stalker', was convicted in 1989 for the murders of 13 people in California between 1984 and 1985. His kill count is expected to be much higher, and he was subsequently sentenced to death but died in 2013 after more than two decades behind bars. Following his arrest, Ramirez spoke to a detective about his crimes and claimed he was "just a guy" and not some crazed killer. He is said to have spoken "from a script" and told the interviewer it would be "improper for [him] to comment" on his previous convictions. "Several killers do on a small scale what governments do on a large one," he said. "They are a product of the times and these are bloodthirsty times. "This country is founded in violence," he added. "Violent delights tend to have violent ends... killing is killing whether done for duty, profit or fun." The Night Stalker, who went on to become the subject of the eponymous Netflix documentary, The Hunt For a Serial Killer, also argued that we are "all evil, in some form or another." Since resurfacing after being posted over a decade ago, the video has accumulated over 1.2 million views and thousands of comments. One user wrote: "The man is obviously sick, but I absolutely agree with him when he said: 'Serial killers do on a small scale what government does on a large one.' That is just an indisputable fact." "Man, this interviewer is awful. Acting like a macho moraliser is not a good way of getting someone like this to tell us anything useful," one person wrote. Another said: "The biggest mistake the interviewer made, in my mind, was comparing him to Charles Manson and Ted Bundy. You could see, the instant the interviewer did that, how glamorous and famous Richard felt just by the look on his face."
