Jim Carrey ‘feared for his life’ as he woke up to ballistic missile warning

Thankfully it was a false alarm

Thankfully it was a false alarm.

Residents and visitors in Hawaii woke up to a scare on Saturday morning, as a government warning alerted everyone on the island that a ballistic missile had been fired in their direction. The message read: “Emergency Alert: BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”

Thankfully it was a false alarm. The error occurred when a Hawaii Emergency Management employee ‘pushed the wrong buttons’ during an internal drill timed to coincide with a shift handover.

Comedian and actor Jim Carrey was one of thousands who woke up to the terrifying message, as was NBA legend Magic Johnson.

“‘I woke up this morning in Hawaii with ten minutes to live”, said Carrey.

He continued: “It was a false alarm, but a real psychic warning. If we allow this one-man Gomorrah and his corrupt Republican congress to continue alienating the world we are all headed for suffering beyond all imagination.”

Obviously referring to President Donald Trump, his concerns are echoed around the United States and the rest of the world, as tensions between the US and North Korea continue to rise with President Trump and Kim Jong-un constantly antagonising each other over who has the biggest ‘rocket’.

Trump was informed that the alert was a false alarm, but rather than tweet that information out immediately to put the minds of thousands of his citizens at rest, he continued his round of golf.

He has tweeted since, but not about the false missile alarm.
