When Paulie Walnuts met the Prime Minister

Wil Jones

The Sopranos is arguably the greatest show of all time, so it is no surprise that it has some high-profile fans

We recently caught up with Sopranos stars Federico Castellucio and Vincent Curatola, who played Furio Guinta and Johnny Sack respectively on the show. And they told us a great story about the time Paulie Walnuts met former Prime Minister John Major.

Vincent Curatola was at the SAG Awards in LA with Tony Sirico, who played Paulie Walnuts, when they approached by the former PM, who revealed he was a fan of the show. Vincent was honoured to meet such a high-profile figure – but Tony didn’t have quite the same reaction…

Federico and Vincent were promoting the global streaming premiere of My Dinner With Alan: A Sopranos Session, a special online event offering fans of The Sopranos unique insight into the hit show.

The official synopsis for My Dinner With Alan reads:

The film, directed by Kristian Fraga, begins by meeting Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz, authors of the best-selling and award-winning book “The Sopranos Sessions” at Holsten’s in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the location of the controversial last scene of The Sopranos, to discuss the epic, multi-award-winning series.

Their wide-ranging conversation covers television, movies, psychiatry, gangsterism, their 20-year friendship, and their experience covering the series for The Star-Ledger of Newark, the newspaper that Tony Soprano picked up at the end of his driveway.

The world streaming premiere will be accompanied by two never seen before bonus features. The first, an intimate film joining key members of the Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning show’s cast, as they reminisce about the show at the Little Italy restaurant, Il Cortile, the restaurant cast members would go to for a commiseration dinner after their character had been killed off in the show.

The second bonus feature of this exceptional film is an exclusive and extremely rare interview with the show’s creator David Chase, where he talks about his childhood memories of Newark, the personal vision behind his landmark series, his love of cinema and presenting The Sopranos on the big screen in 2021.

My Dinner With Alan: A Sopranos Session is a one-night-only event, streaming exclusively on DICE on the 27th December at 8 PM. Virtual doors open at 7 PM. To book your tickets now, click here.
