The Book of Boba Fett will be a new original series set within the timeline of The Mandalorian

Disney has confirmed that a new Boba Fett starring series is heading to Disney+ in 2021.

There has been some confusion if The Book of Boba Fett was set to be the third season of The Mandalorian, Disney has now confirmed on Twitter that it will be its own show.

The Book of Boba Fett, a new Original Series, starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez, set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, is coming to Disney+ Dec. 2021,” said the tweet.

The show was a surprise announcement at the end of this week’s episode of The Mandalorian.

In the post-credits scenes, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shannd (Ming-Na Wen) travel to Jabba The Hutt’s Palace on Tatooine, as seen in Return of the Jedi. Fett then kills Bib Fortuna (who appears to have taken over from Jabba) and claims Jabba’s throne.

A title card then appears saying: “The Book of Boba Fett. Coming December 2021.” Obviously, this drove Star Wars fans wild.

Last week, it was revealed at the 2020 Disney Investor Day that there are 10 new Star Wars series coming to Disney+.

The Book of Baba Fett was not one of the shows confirmed, but there were several that could tie into it. Rangers of the New Republic will be set during the time period as The Mandalorian, and Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano will also be getting her own series.
