Samsung Galaxy S25 is revealed next week

Look out Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung is coming for you.

The battle of the flagship smartphones is about to get a lot more intense with the upcoming launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on 22 January and it will have processing power and technology to match the range-topping Pro Max.

Those looking at the new Samsung S25 Ultra will want it to at least match the price of the cheapest iPhone 16 Pro Max. That stands at £37 a month with Sky Mobile, which does not include data plans.

Luckily there is a half price January sale on those with the cheapest coming in at £5 per month for 3GB, bringing the cheapest cost of the Pro Max to just £42 a month with no upfront cost. You can get that deal here.

The Samsung S25 Ultra prices have not yet been revealed prior to launch but the S24 is priced at £40 per month with Sky before adding a data plan – £3 more than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The new handset will be revealed at the Galaxy Unpacked event and we can expect a new S25, S25+ and the range-topping Ultra models. The event will begin on 22 January at 6pm and Samsung has already launched a holding page for the event.

It is also offering £50 off the new product launch, which will be the new Samsung phone, on the official Samsung website.

What are the Samsung Galaxy S25 features?

The new Samsung Galaxy S25 will have titanium design with a quad camera with 200MP main compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s triple camera with 48MP main. It also has 12GB of RAM compared to Apple’s 8GB offering, with the choice of a 16GB of RAM option.

Another highlight in the S25 Ultra image leak is a slight peek at a new Galaxy AI feature that appears to be the “Now Bar.”

The Now Bar is a feature revealed for the One UI 7 operating system upgrade that Samsung teased in December. It appears similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island feature, using various live widgets (timers, playback, translations) hosted in a a pill-shaped interface.

You can monitor these widgets via the lock screen instead of opening up your phone. According to Samsung, the lock screen will get a new notification system that recognises priority notifications to enable faster access from the lock screen.

The high end nature of the device implies a price tag that will at least be as much as that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max when the Ultra finally arrives.
