Nokia are bringing back the very cool phone from The Matrix with a 20 day battery life and cheap price

Paul Moore

It’s very cheap too.

Aside from bullet time, sunglasses and more leather than a Judas Priest concert, The Matrix remains one of the most stylish films of the ’90s and eerily prophetic. Neo may have escaped the dystopian world that enslaved humanity but aren’t we all slaves to technology in some way?

Right, that’s enough of the Black Mirror posturing because Nokia have some good news for anyone that loves a decent phone with a long battery life.

The classic Nokia 8110 is about to make a comeback in 4G format, with the new version being launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The “slider” phone was popularised by Keanu Reeves in The Matrix and it’s available in black – fitting given Neo and Trinity’s fashion taste – and Banana Yellow.

Yeah, we’re going to go for black.

What’s cool though is that the phone has the Facebook app already available with even more apps being rolled out at a later date.

You can also import contacts from Gmail and Outlook and check emails, or use the phone as a 4G hotspot.

Not even Agent Smith could put a dampener on the best news of all. The phone lasts 20 days between charges and it also has the classic Nokia game Snake. Goodbye productivity!

The new 8110 4G is expected to be available around May, with a global average price of $79/€65.

As well as the nostalgic return of the 8810 4G, Nokia has also announced the release of the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, new Nokia 6 and Nokia 1 handsets.

Does anyone need a phone that has a decent battery life? Perfect for those summer festivals when your smartphone dies after 5 hours!
