The best February phone deals
February is a good time to buy a new phone or get a new SIM-only deal.
The launch of the new Samsung S25 series of phones last month means Samsung, Apple and Google all have brand new flagship phones available and more competition means better prices for customers.
From the new iPhone 16 Pro Max to the Samsung S25 Ultra, to the more budget end of the market and the £159 phone you should be considering, there is plenty of choice if you are looking for a new phone this month.
We have sifted through the best deals and tried out some of the best phones on the market to help find you the best deal.
The best flagship phone of February
There are three high end flagship phones you can choose from in February. The iPhone 16 was launched in September 2024 and the range-topper is the fantastic iPhone 16 Pro Max.
It now has competition in the form of the new Samsung S25. Like the iPhone it has plus-size versions (the S25+ and the iPhone 16 Plus) and Samsung has launched a rival at the top end of the market with the frankly brilliant Samsung S25 Ultra.
Interestingly, the best-selling phone on the market according to Sky Mobile is the iPhone 16 Pro Max, followed by the standard iPhone 16.
It all comes down to price and the operating system you want to use. If you are an Apple user the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes out on top – and it does on price too. You can get it for as little as £37 a month from Sky Mobile.
The Samsung S25 Ultra is not far off in price and does add better cameras. It also has faster processors and if you are an Android user it means you do not have to join the Apple ecosystem.
Both phones use cutting-edge AI and ultra-fast processors for speed and to handle gaming and video. The Samsung may just edge the iPhone in terms of processing power, but the iPhone 16 is no slouch and both provide exceptional performance.
There is a third contender. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL does not have the processing power of the other two top-end phones but it does come with a very good screen, excellent camera and Google’s easy to use interface. Previous generations have suffered from poor battery life but the Pixel 9 has had a big upgrade there too.
- Best iPhone 16 deal: iPhone 16 for just £24 a month with Sky Mobile
- Best Samsung S25 deal: The Samsung S25 Ultra is £42 per month with Samsung
- Best Google Pixel 9 deal: Pixel 9 is £21 a month with Sky Mobile
The best cheap phones
A cheap phone does not have to mean a bad phone. Cheaper phones will not deliver the performance of the new iPhone 16 but they will come in cheaper than the £699 price tag for the Apple handset.
Take the Motorola Moto G55 5G as an example. Priced at just £159 it is one of the more affordable phones on the market but it actually very good value for money. It has a good battery and a 50MP camera which is better than many budget rivals.
Do not expect exceptional speed and performance but the Motorola Moto G55 5G is a very good phone on a budget.
You may also want to consider an Honor phone. We have used Honor phones for a number of years and the latest, the Honor 200 Lite is a solid phone with one of the best batteries for a budget phone.
- Best Motorola Moto G55 5G deal: £159 from Amazon
- Best Honor 200 Lite deal: £162 from Amazon
The best SIM-only February phone deals
The first thing you should do when you are seeking the cheapest SIM-only deal with the most amount of data is to check Lebara. We’ve checked prices throughout 2024 and Lebara is one of the most consistent SIM providers when it comes to big discounts.
You can get a 5GB SIM card for £5 a month on Lebara but we can do better than that.
If you want more data you can get a 50GB SIM for just £8 with Smarty, which is another low-cost provider. As a heavy data user, I find 50GB is more than enough even if you are regularly streaming on your phone.
ID Mobile has a 40GB SIM for £7 a month. The good thing about ID Mobile is that it is a rolling one month contract, which means you can cancel it at any time and only pay for a month. It also has data roaming included and that means you can use it abroad and avoid costly daily charges that most UK networks charge.
