One of the main features that keeps people addicted to Snapchat is their fear of losing a "streak" with a friend.
After you've snapped your friend for several days in a row, you get on a streak — denoted by a fire emoji that tells you how long it's been since you and your friend last went a day without exchanging snaps.
Now Facebook's instant messaging app Messenger is trialling a similar feature, also referred to as a streak, but this time using the lightning emoji alongside a message letting you know how many days in a row you've messaged your mate.

Facebook confirmed to CNET on November 24 that they are indeed trialling this measure on limited accounts to see how it takes off.
