Animoji Karaoke is the single best use of the iPhone X’s face mapping tech

Making emojis sing along to classic tunes? This is what technology is for

Did you hear about the iPhone X?

It’s Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone. It’s got all kinds of whizzy features like an end-to-end screen and facial recognition technology. It also costs the best part of a grand. Yeah, you heard about it.

One of the features demonstrated at the Apple Event a while back was Animojis – animated emojis. Using the iPhone X’s facial mapping, you can make emojis’ mouths move, give them facial expressions – you can effectively become and emoji. Or an emoji can effectively become you. Weird.

But the feature has taken on a life of its own in a perhaps unexpected way. People are syncing Animojis up with songs, giving birth to a new genre of internet… thing: Animoji Karaoke.

Confused? Just watch a few of the samples below. You’ll be dying for an iPhone X before long. Not enough to splash out a grand, mind, but still.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is an absolute must.

How about Blue Swede’s ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ from Guardians of the Galaxy?

Here’s a whole host of critters singing Daddy Yankee’s ‘Gasolina’.

A quick (but nonetheless brilliant) clip of ‘Mr Brightside’.

A bit of Smash Mouth, obviously.

And of course, ‘Who Let the Dogs Out?’

The future is here, and it is simultaneously hilarious and terrifying.
