Here are 4 new video games to play this week

Time to play

Carl Anka

Our game recommendations this week are of an indie and mobile flavour.

We’ve got shooters, puzzle games and a much-loved choose-your-own-adventure game. What will you be playing?

Sea_Hero_Quest_Gameplay_2

Sea Hero Quest (Mobile)

Sea Hero Quest is a lovely mobile game that uses player data to help aid Alzheimer’s research. Produced by Deutsche Telecom in conjunction with scientists from the University of College London (UCL), the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Alzheimer’s Research UK, it aims to build a database of human spacial awareness and navigation.

It’s also rather fun to play, as you navigate mazes from memory using flares, landmarks and tasking you to photograph creatures to find your way. Give it a go.

Superhot

Superhot (Xbox One, PC)

Superhot is a nifty shooter-cum-puzzle game that works on one simple concept: time only moves when you do. Think bullet time taken to OTT levels. Gamers can look around, plan methods of attack and scout for baddies – but the moment they take a step, it all kicks off again.

An inventive indie game (shout out to its weird, text message-based storyline) that first took the PC by storm in February, it’s well worth picking up now it’s reached Xbox One.

Still need convincing? Here, you can play a prototype of the game for free here.

FootballCEO

Football CEO Pro (Mobile)

We’ve all had a dabble pretending to be a football player. We’ve maybe had a go at being a football manager, but as CEO of an entire club? That’s the new task ahead in the surprise mobile hit Football CEO.

While it may be odd to put you as the man behind the man behind the man behind the throne in a football game, Football CEO is no dull spreadsheet simulator. Much like mobile footie hit New Star Soccer, Football CEO sucks you in with its deep, involving gameplay. You’ll be agonising over catering costs at your club and wondering what happened to the rest of your life.

FallenLondon

Fallen London (iOS)

Fallen London is what we call a “literary RPG”…. No wait come back!

Part book, part game, Fallen London had long been a popular online choose-your-own-adventure game and now is finally making the jump to mobile. Tasking you with protecting a horror-filled Victorian version of London, you could lose hours and hours to its tight twisting narrative.

Have fun…
