Youri Tielemans is a Man Utd target – if Paul Pogba leaves

United appear to be making plans in case Pogba departs this summer

Manchester United will reportedly target Youri Tielemans if Paul Pogba leaves the club this summer.

Though United are said to be keen to keep Pogba, the Frenchman is said to want to leave Old Trafford after becoming increasingly concerned about the club’s inability to mount a serious title challenge in the season ahead.

With the likes of Real Madrid and his former club Juventus said to be interested in a move for Pogba, the Independent report that Tielemans is one of the options being explored as a potential replacement by United. He is not, however, believed to be their top choice.

The Belgium international is contracted to AS Monaco, though is thought to be available for transfer after impressing during a loan spell with Leicester City during the second half of last season.

The fact United appear to be drawing up a list of potential signings to replace Pogba should he depart the club for a second time is another worrying sign that they could face a difficult summer in the transfer market, despite the much-talked-about plans to overhaul Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Though a move for Swansea City’s Daniel James is expected to be announced next week, United are yet to confirm any new signings.

Continued speculation about Pogba’s future comes on the same day that a report claimed Paris Saint-Germain are readying a bid for goalkeeper David De Gea, who appears no closer to extending his contract at Old Trafford.

De Gea is thought to have asked United to reward him for his form over recent seasons with a wage packet which matches that of Alexis Sanchez, who is said to pocket £350,000 a week.
