Yannick Bolasie skins two Leeds United defenders like he’s playing FIFA street

Leeds United might still be favourites to go up, but Aston Villa’s Bolasie pulled off an outrageous moment of skill

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United completed a memorable comeback earlier today as an injury-time winner from Kemar Roof saw them beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Villa Park.

The win maintained the Yorkshire club’s place at the helm of the Championship going into the Christmas period as they came from 2-0 down at half-time against the Midlands side.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Tammy Abraha, which was followed up by a Conor Hourihane long-range strike 12 minutes later.

However, Leeds showed why they have dominated the second tier this season when youngster Jack Clarke scored after the break, only for a Pontus Jansson header to level things up minutes later.

Roof then grabbed a final goal in the 95th minute to send the away fans into raptures.

“We were all just so overwhelmingly happy – maybe too much”, said Leeds’ Arentinean gaffer after the game.

“We were satisfied with the draw, so we felt euphoric when the ball went in so late on.”

Commenting on how the last decade has seen the side topping the Championship table at Christmas go on to win it, Bielsa added: “Well, I hope we won’t be the exception. But all things like that are there to be broken so we’ll just take each game as it comes, one by one, and see where it takes us.”

But while Villa fans might not have had much to sing about on the journey home, there was at least a moment of utter brilliance from on-loan Bolasie 50 minutes in, which in some ways was worth more than league table points ever could be.
