Wolves are close to signing highly rated Belgian international

Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be on the brink of completing another summer signing

Leander Dendoncker, the Anderlecht midfielder, is expected to complete a medical with Wolves ahead of the 5pm transfer deadline on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has been linked with several of the continent’s top teams in the last 18 months and was thought to have impressed Jose Mourinho when Manchester United played Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-finals the season before last.

He’s made 171 appearances for his club and was also selected for his country’s World Cup squad for Russia earlier this summer. Roberto Martinez named him as a starter during the Red Devils’ group game against England.

According to the BBC, Dendoncker is rated at £12m – reasonably cheap considering the current market. Should he complete the move, he’ll follow Rui Patricio, Jonny Castro Otto, Joao Moutinho, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore in signing for the Molineux club since their promotion back to the Premier League.

It’s also thought Wolves are looking to complete deals for Swansea’s Sam Clucas and Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko before the close of the window.

They kick off their new season – their first back in the top flight of English football since their relegation in 2012 – by welcoming Everton to Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
