Wolfsburg’s formidable home record will make worrying reading for Manchester United fans

 You can’t argue with stats.

Manchester United will need to call in a few favours if they are to secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Boos echoed around Old Trafford tonight after the 0-0 draw with PSV means the club will have to get at least a draw in two weeks time against Wolfsburg to secure their place in the knock-out round.

However, if results elsewhere go against United, such as PSV beating CSKA Moscow in Holland, than Juan Mata and co will need to engineer a win in Germany.

And visiting sides escaping from the Volkswagen Arena have not enjoyed much luck over the last few months judging by these stats

The club so far this season have won eight of nine games at home, and drawing just one.

But Wolfsburg aren’t unbeatable as proven by Everton, Napoli and Bayern Munich,

And indeed Louis van Gaal should gain some confidence from this revealing stat
