Nathan Cleverly vs. Badou Jack is on!

The undercard of what is sure to be the most watched boxing pay-per-view of 2017 is finally beginning to take shape.

We already knew that Gervonta Davis was going to feature at some point ahead of the 50th professional bout of his mentor, Floyd Mayweather, and yet another of the undefeated legend’s proteges has just been confirmed for the August 26 event.

Badou Jack will get a crack at WBA (regular) light heavyweight title-holder, Wales’ Nathan Cleverly, after the WBA gave the green light to the contest on Thursday afternoon.

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that a decision had been made after mandatory challenger Dmitry Bivol had seemingly agreed to step aside.

Cleverly won his title last October, when opponent Jürgen Brähmer retired with an elbow injury midway through the fight in Germany, while Jack last fought in January, when he fought to a draw with James DeGale and subsequently vacated his WBC super middleweight belt in order to move up to light heavyweight.

Thursday also saw confirmation of the commentary team for the event, which will be shown in the UK and Ireland on Sky Sports Box Office.

It was announced that four-time super middleweight champion boxer Carl Froch would join former UFC welterweight title challenger and current UFC analyst, Dan Hardy, in calling the action throughout the show.

Andrew Tabiti vs. Steve Cunningham was also announced for the undercard, while Davis’ opponent has been revealed as fellow undefeated junior lightweight Francisco Fonseca.
