The farcical nature of Bellator 149 continues to worsen.
The February 19 event will go down in infamy due to the health issues of Dhafir 'Dada 5000' Harris, whose heart reportedly stopped beating during his highly-publicised heavyweight clash with Kimbo Slice.
And now the already questionable reputation of these kind of fights has taken another hammering with the revelation this weekend that Slice, as well as Ken Shamrock, failed their pre-fight drug tests at the Houston event.
MMAFightingbroke the news that both fighters tested positive for banned substances and have thus been suspended by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Slice beat Dada 5,000 via third round TKO in the co-main event before Shamrock was beaten in just two minutes by Royce Gracie in the main event.
Shamrock was suspended for twelve months by the California State Athletic Commission in 2009 after testing positive for the steroid Stanozolol in the pre-fight drug test before his victory over Ross Clifton.
Bellator 149 drew record numbers for the promotion but the card came in for much criticism due to its circus-style fights which closed out the card as the 52-year-old Shamrock faced the 49-year-old Gracie and the 42-year-old Kimbo Slice took on the 38-year-old Dada 5000.
To say that the MMA community was shocked by the revelations would be an outright lie.
