WATCH: Geoff Shreeves gives MOTM award to the wrong man after Brighton’s win over Man United

Brighton clinched Premier League survival with their victory over United

Brighton are staying up.

A 1-0 victory at home to Manchester United on Friday night saw Chris Hughton’s side reach 40 points – enough for them to be mathematically safe from relegation.

The victory was well deserved. United were sloppy in possession and well below par throughout the game, Brighton looking sharper and carrying more goal threat from minute one.

Anthony Knockaert was particularly impressive, and although the decisive goal came from Pascal Gross, it was no surprise to see the Frenchman named man of the match by Sky Sport’s co-commentator Gary Neville.

Unfortunately for Knockaert, Geoff Shreeves didn’t quite get the memo, mistakenly awarding the MOTM to Gross, instead. Gary Neville was not impressed…

Brighton finish their first Premier League season with two away trips. The first of which sees them travel to recently crowned champions, Manchester City, next Wednesday. Then, on the closing day of the season, they face Liverpool at Anfield.
