The most common criticism of La Liga is that it's always a two horse race, and even then the second horse is often a fair distance behind.
But this season, with Real Madrid and Barcelona riddled with debt - so much so they tried to form a Super League - and Atlético Madrid and Sevilla boasting their strongest teams in a long time, there are currently only three points separating fourth from first.
Atlético Madrid lead the pack on 73 points, but lost ground this weekend after conceding a late equaliser to Athletic Club.
Barcelona trail in third on 71 points, but crucially have a game in hand on their other three title contenders.
