Want to see Rooney and Phil Jones singing at Chris Smalling’s wedding? Of course you do

Paul Moore

Tune!

Right now, it appears that Wayne Rooney doesn’t have too much to sing about because it’s looking likely that the Manchester United skipper will lose the captaincy.

It’s reported that Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Paul Pogba are being lined up as potential replacements for the armband, and having only featured in 25 league games (15 starts) under Jose Mourinho this season, uncertainty surrounds the future of United’s record goalscorer.

As reported earlier, it appears that Rooney does have options with clubs in China, the US, Italy, Spain and Turkey being mentioned, but it has been widely reported that the striker will make an earlier than expected return to United’s pre-season training in an attempt to prove his fitness.

The rumour mill will continue to turn, but we would be very surprised if Rooney hung up his boots and picked up a microphone.

As you may know, the United striker has often spoken about his love of James Bay, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons and the Stereophonics, but at Chris Smalling’s recent wedding in Italy, he went for a very different tune when asked to sing.

If you ever wondered what a Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones duet on UB40’s Red Red Wine sounded like, here it is.
