Vincent Kompany has just earned his Masters degree

Forget the Premier League, this is a real achievement.

Everyone is wondering is Manchester City can go the entire season unbeaten.

But whatever happens, Vincent Kompany has already had one massive achievement. The City captain Vincent Kompany has graduated with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

The Belgian achieved a distinction score of 72, passing with merit, on his dissertation, after studying for a part-time Global MBA at Alliance Manchester Business School. And he did all this while plying top-level football (albeit with some extended spells out injured); do you feel bad now that you barely scraped a 2:2 because you spent all your time playing GTA?

His dissertation was on something you’d expect him to know a bit about – how professional football clubs in the Premier League can benefit from home game advantage, and improve overall.

On Instagram, Kompany said:

So I got myself a masters.. It’s never been about the degree but I’m proud I took it to the finish line. That journey took me completely out of my comfort zone, uncharted territory. I really sucked at it initially but grit and graft got me through the early stages. Skill came later and style was for the very end.

To the young athlete, don’t bet everything on your health, take control of your life and keep educating yourself. Learn and believe that smartening up is also a way to become a better, more complete athlete.

Well done.
