Viewers really enjoyed this Iceland player spitting on himself

The cameras just *had* to be on him

There’s a really obvious joke about dribbling that we’re not going to make, here.

Only a matter of days ago, football fans were weirdly fascinated with footage of Germany coach Jogi Low sniffing his hand after appearing to scratch his balls. On Saturday afternoon, they were greatly amused by an Icelandic international spitting on himself.

The man in question, Jón Dadi Bödvarsson, was preparing for the second half of his country’s second Euro 2016 campaign against Hungary. Having stunned Portugal with a 1-1 draw (and prompting a massive Cristiano Ronaldo strop in the process), Iceland took the lead against the Hungarians thanks to a Gylfi Sigurdsson spot-kick.

As he awaited the referee to blow his whistle to signify the start of the second half, he decided to empty his mouth of some excess phlegm. Unfortunately, his spit didn’t get beyond his chin. Even more unfortunately, cameras captured the moment and beamed it to every corner of the globe.

Do you want to watch it? Of course you do, you weird lot.

As you might expect, those watching were extremely sympathetic.
