To say that the J-League championship semi final between Gamba Osaka and Urawa Red Diamonds was dramatic would be a huge understatement.
1-1 after full time it Gamba until the second half of extra time to edge ahead. Then, at 2-1 up and just minutes away from booking their place in the final, they almost made a complete and utter balls of it.
With an opposing striker putting him under pressure, a Gamba defender had a bit of a brain fart and decided to pass the ball back to his keeper. The only problem being, he got the power totally wrong and ended up lobbing the keeper.
Fortunately, they were spared the torture of a penalty shootout as the ball came back off the woodwork.
However, the remarkable thing about that passage of play was that the post actually started a counter attack which saw Gamba score the goal which killed the game off as a contest.
