Vardy is so angry with himself for missing the target that he punches his own face

There is being a perfectionist, and there’s this.

England notched up another victory in the run-up to the European Championships on Sunday by overcoming a stubborn Turkish side 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

It wasn’t quite the scintillating display that the Manchester crowd were hoping for, but in fairness to Roy Hodgson, he only has a finite number of minutes left to tinker.

This was apparent in his somewhat frustrating decision to play Jamie Vardy on the left flank. It certainly wasn’t to the supporters’ liking as they felt it was a waste of a natural goalscorer.

The player himself wasn’t happy either. Out of position and out of sorts to accommodate a ‘greedy’ Harry Kane, the Leicester man decided to take his annoyance out on himself.

That’s right – Vardy wasn’t having a party but a punch-up, and with his own face at that. At one point he was so angry at himself for missing a chance that he thumped his own money-maker.

And yes, it’s every bit as ridiculous as it sounds. It’s a good thing he scored the winner otherwise he could have ruled himself out of next month’s tournament…
