Valour FC striker William Akio has released a statement following his spectacular goal-line miss, which quickly went viral on social media. Akio etched his name into the history of association football on Sunday afternoon, producing one of the worst misses in the history of football against Halifax Wanderers in the the Canadian Premier League. Akio has since broken his silence, writing on Twitter: "I want to start off by saying I’m happy for the three points and our teams resilience last night. "I really just missed a wide open net. It’s simple as that. Everyone makes mistakes on the job, it’s part of life. Seven minutes from time, Dyer was able to score the only goal of the game, sealing the win. Akio is actually the club’s second all-time top goalscorer behind Dyer.
