The UK is set to host the 2035 women's World Cup, as announced by The Times journalist Martyn Ziegler.
The breaking news was reported this morning (3 April), after it was revealed that the UK was the sole "valid" bidder for the tournament.
FIFA chief Gianni Infantino described the nation's interest as the "one valid bid" for the event.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco had previously expressed interest to host the tournament, but nothing concrete came of it
The UK hosting the 2035 women's World Cup will follow on from the UK hosting the men's European Championships in 2028.
