Tyron Woodley asked fans to vote on who he should fight next and it couldn’t be closer

Three options. All class.

The UFC welterweight champion has a few options for his next fight and he needs your help.

‘The Chosen One’ went through a barn-burner against Stephen Thompson at UFC 205 with the five-round war declared as a majority draw, despite one judge going in his favour.

The most likely option would be an immediate rematch for Thompson but Woodley is interested in a fight that will add to his legacy in the fight game. He has been angling for a 170lbs title defence against McGregor – saying he would even fight him in Dublin –  and he even shook hands with middleweight champ Michael Bisping on a 180lbs catchweight bout.

And then there is Demian Maia, who he offered to fight at UFC 207 on December 30 but who now appears to be down the list. Nick Diaz wants a shot at his belt too after turning down a comeback fight against former champion Robbie Lawler.

It was all too much for Woodley so he decided there was only one thing for it – a Twitter poll.

The poll expires at 7pm and [as of midday] had just under 13,000 votes.

Leading the way on 42% is Woodley versus Conor McGregor. Not far behind is Woodley v Thompson [40%] while a fight against Bisping is down at 18%.

Woodley did respond to one voter that asked about Maia and, interestingly, said he would love to fight him but was not offered the fight by the UFC. We may be reading into that response too much but could it mean he has been offered a fight with McGregor?

If so, and you want to see more UFC history, get voting.
