Transfer gossip: United demand £45m or Bale for De Gea

United make De Gea demands

If Manchester United are to lose David de Gea to Real Madrid this summer, the keeper certainly won’t come cheap.

According to the Daily Express, United have slapped a £45m price tag on the Spaniard as he stalls over signing a new £200,000-a-week contract.

If Madrid aren’t prepared to pay, then Louis van Gaal is also interested in negotiating an exchange for Gareth Bale, although that could see United having to cough up an extra £40m or so.

Chelsea and Man City chase Pogba

Chelsea and Man City have been told that a summer move for Paul Pogba would have to break the British transfer record, set by Angel Di Maria’s £59.7m switch to Man United (that went well…).

The Daily Mirror also report that the Juventus midfielder is looking for a five-year contract with a weekly wage of around £320,000, making him comfortably one of the most expensive players in history.

That’s around £70,000 more than City’s top earners, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure, both earn, while Chelsea would need to explain to Eden Hazard why he’s ‘only’ on £200,000 if they plan to meet Pogba’s astronomical demands.

United and City duke it out for Cavani

Having failed to score in over four hours, it’s pretty clear that Man United need to sign a new striker this summer.

Radamel Falcao’s loan hasn’t gone to plan – with the Colombian finding the net just four times all season – but the club could be set to return to Ligue 1 in search of another solution.

PSG’s Edinson Cavani is reportedly at the top of Louis van Gaal’s wish list, although United apparently face competition from their local rivals.

The Sun claim City are also looking at the Uruguayan, as both clubs look to stage a stronger title challenge next season.
