Tour De France cameraman treats annoying spectator the way we all want

He didn't choose the thug life...

Niall McIntyre

Is there a more annoying bunch of people than those who run alongside cyclists in the grand tours, jumping up and down like there’s a pole stuck up their ass and gesticulating like they’re Jose Mourinho on the sideline of a Champions League final?

God, they would get on your nerves just watching the damn thing. Imagine how annoying it must be for the cyclists themselves when they have them up and around them like a bad rash.

Cyclists have one of the toughest jobs going, sitting on a bike for a gruelling four hours every other day for three weeks of a grand tour. They’re ascending the highest peaks and descending hills at breathtaking pace.

The last thing they need is an uncontrollable mad man with a flag roaring in their face.

Can they not just respect the boundaries of a cyclist and cheer like a mad man from the road side? There’s no need to be putting the competitors in danger.

And that’s the reason why we have massive respect for this ‘Gendarme’ or motorcyclist cameraman who took it into his own hands to perform the deed that every cyclist would only love to do, but don’t get the chance.
