Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer window took another blow on Saturday as they were rejected by non-league 19-year-old winger Ollie Tanner.
Spurs had agreed a deal in principle with Isthmian League Premier Division team Lewes FC that would have seen Spurs pay £100,000 for the player, but Spurs could not reach an agreement on personal terms with the player, according to the Telegraph.
Tanner had impressed during a spell training with Tottenham’s under-23 side, but now looks set to remain with Lewes FC in the short-term.
While this might not reflect brilliantly on Tottenham’s negotiating skills, some fans will be relieved after some tweets sent from Tanner’s account mocking both the club and Harry Kane were unearthed in recent days.
This is the latest failure to secure a target in a disappointing month for the club, after Adama Traoré opted to rejoin Barcelona on loan from Wolves instead of joining the North London club.
It has been reported that Traoré’s decision hinged on the fact he did not want to play as a wing-back, as Antonio Conte had planned, but as an attacker and therefore returned to the Camp Nou.
There window could be saved, however, by the reportedly imminent arrival of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus. On Sunday morning, Fabrizio Romano reported that the Sweden international will fly to London today after a deal was agreed with Juventus.

Wingers Bryan Gil also looks set to join Valencia on loan, while Steven Bergwijn could also still leave the club to join Ajax, despite his impressive brace against Leicester that clinched all three points for Tottenham.
