Two down to earth legends

Everton had reason to celebrate on Saturday night. After back to back defeats in the league to Fulham and Manchester City, you’d have forgiven fans for thinking their trip to Anfield would be more of the same – especially considering they hadn’t won their in any competition since 2010. But as it panned out, Carlo Ancelotti’s side were dominant against Liverpool, snatched an early lead and seal the victory late on with a penalty, jumping back up to their rightful place of seventh in the Premier League table.

And less than 24 hours later, Tom Davies, who starred at the base of midfield, was spotted in Liverpool city centre buying (presumably soft) drinks for homeless people with retired Everton legend Leighton Baines.

That is according to Twitter user Nathan Pickering at least, who took selfies with the Everton duo and posted about their selfless deed.

“Day after a derby win at Anfield, Davies and Baines strolling up bold street buying homeless fellas drinks,” he tweeted.

Fans of all clubs were impressed by the humble gesture, heaping praise on Davies and Baines for their generosity.

Everton fan James Landry said: “The pair of them are just amazing humans.”

Numerous fans called the gesture “class”, with variations of emojis emphasising its classiness.

Sam Rowlett said: “Class act Davies ,he’s regularly about helping out the homeless of Liverpool.”

Hard working on the pitch, generous off it. Tom Davies is the best of us.
