Three ridiculous Premier League droughts came to an end on Saturday…

It turns out that Wayne Rooney, Alexis Sanchez and Daniel Sturridge aren’t awful after all.

All three players were absolutely gasping for Premier League goals after an extended period of wides, offsides and row zeds.

But the floodgates opened in a big way as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all recorded pretty impressive victories in Saturday’s three o’clock kick-offs.

Rooney had gone a ludicrous 1,000 Premier League minutes without finding the back of the net for Manchester United but proved that it’s not all about Anthony Martial when he kneed the ball home in a 3-0 victory over Sunderland.

Alexis Sanchez’s spell wasn’t quite as lengthy as Rooney’s but he had gone 873 minutes since his last Premier League strike before bagging a hat-trick in Arsenal’s 5-2 thrashing of Leicester.

Sturridge looked to have returned to something approaching full fitness when he scored Liverpool’s second and third against Villa. His drought had less to do with misfiring as it had to do with injury as he had gone 266 DAYS, not minutes, since getting on the scoresheet in the Premier League.
