Former Northampton Town man recreates a Ronaldinho classic against Dortmund

Incredible...

Forget Spurs’ and Leicester’s Tuesday night Champions League matches, the game of the night was undoubtedly the one at Signal Iduna Park.

Incredibly, there were seven goals in a 21-minute spell during the first half between Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw, and while five of them went to the home side, the opening goal for the visitors brought back memories of a true Champions League classic.

Chelsea went on to win their 2005 last 16 meeting with Barcelona, but one of Ronaldinho’s goals in the second leg at Stamford Bridge lives long in the memory.

Champions League - Chelsea v Barcelona

Receiving the ball on the edge of the Chelsea box, the Brazilian had found himself with little space to work with as Blue shirts surrounded him. Somehow, he managed to prod the ball into the far corner, leaving Petr Cech rooted to the spot.

Eleven and a bit years on, Alex Prijovic – once of Northampton Town – drew comparisons with that famous Ronaldinho strike as he guided the ball inside the far post with the outside of his right boot.

Having given his side the lead, Prijovic, who also represented Derby and Yeovil earlier in his career, then watched his side ship three goals within the next five minutes.

Ah well…
