There wasn’t a lot of love for America’s Valentine’s Day-themed kit launch

They tried...

You can’t knock the folks in charge of U.S. Soccer for trying to be creative with their latest kit launch.

For reasons unknown, they decided that Valentine’s Day (or the early hours of the next morning, depending on timezones) was the most appropriate time to ‘drop’ their brand-spanking new football/soccer kit/uniform.

And not just that, they even introduced it on Twitter by way of a special Valentine’s poem, bless ’em.

Ignoring the fact that the last line of that poem is probably a couple of syllables too long, it seems there wasn’t an awful lot of love for the new kit and its Valentine’s-themed launch.

To illustrate this, some Americans decided to respond with their own poems.

Others were more concerned that its design was too similar to that of England and Portugal…

Others were trying to bring politics into it…

While others craved the return of a classic U.S. shirt from Alexi Lalas’ heyday.

Like it or lump it, the new kit will be making an appearance next month. The U.S. Women’s National Team will wear it first at the 2017 SheBelieves Cup taking place from March 1-7, with the Men’s National Team set to have a run out in it when they host Honduras in World Cup qualifying later in the month.
