David Moyes has been less than enthusiastic about this transfer window: Very little money to spend, the unappealing prospect of a relegation battle and the difficulty with attracting top class talent to England's North East all combine to leave the Sunderland manager less than optimistic about the transfer window.

"I'd be kidding you if I said the players we are going to bring in will make a big difference," said Moyes. "We probably couldn't get that level of player — and we probably wouldn't have the finances to do it. Our funds are limited with a capital L."
