The nation is in emotional turmoil after Will Grigg has been officially extinguished

It's a dark day.

Richard Beech

This day will forever go down as a dark day in our country’s history.

In the run up to the second Battle of Britain in EURO 2016, we all just wanted one thing… the chance to see Will Grigg on fire.

He’s been in flames for weeks now, if not months, but glimpses of Will Grigg on fire are rare, only a handful of people from Wigan have ever witnessed the natural phenomenom.

And, sadly, it will remain that way. Will Grigg wasn’t brought on as a subsitute for Northern Ireland’s match against Wales, even when they found themselves 1-0 down and in need of a goal to stay in the competition.

The public did not react well.

It means Will Grigg had a total of zero performances at EURO 2016, and such was the popularity of his song, that the Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill was even asked by a journalist why he didn’t pick the player.
