Reeling back the years: The evolution of the NBA All-Star jersey

Will Lavin

“Hey now, you’re an All-Star!”

Tonight the NBA hosts its annual All-Star game. Taking place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, home of the L.A. Lakers, it’s the first All-Star game with the newly changed format, where instead of East vs. West teams were picked in a draft stye format by captains Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Lebron James (Cleveland Cavaliers).

But that’s not the only thing that’s changed. For the first time in NBA league history, All-Stars will wear the iconic Jordan Brand Jumpman on their chest during tonight’s game.

Blending the iconic Jordan Brand style with the latest innovation, it adds another element of distinction to this year’s game by utilising a clean, black and white colour scheme featuring individual team logos and a font inspired by Los Angeles street sign typography.

Available over at NBAStore.eu, its elevated aesthetic creates a premium look on and off the court – it’s a thing of beauty!

Taking a look back at the All-Star uniforms of past, we’ve created a gallery that showcases the many designs the NBA has put out over the years since the All-Star game’s inception (except for 1999 when the All-Star game was cancelled due to the lockout).

Going all the way back to 1951, when the first NBA All-Star game took place at the Boston Garden, you’ll agree that some of these jerseys are iconic, but which are your favourites?

Talk about style!

And now the 2018 Jordan Brand NBA All-Star Edition uniforms are available in the UK.

The NBA’s official online store in Europe also features Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant 2018 NBA All-Star Edition uniforms, as well as shorts, socks and hooded sweatshirts. Not only that, you can also get your hands on some of the jerseys from previous All-Star games, including those from the 1991, 1996 and 2004 games.

Visit NBAStore.eu to see what’s available.

The 67th NBA All-Star Game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles will be broadcast tonight on BT Sport 1 from 1am
