Every football club and their brother is trying to make themselves look cool on social media. AS Roma are obviously the benchmark when it comes to official club social media banter, and if Sunderland's response to their Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday night is anything to go by then the Black Cats have been paying attention to the Serie A side recently.
Most clubs' attempts at this sort of banter are at best okay, at worst truly awful and misguided, but sometimes clubs hit the sweet spot, and Sunderland did exactly that.
The tweet in question came from the club's account after they were eliminated from the League Cup to the Owls, following a 2-0 defeat at home courtesy of goals from Marco Matias and Adam Reach.
Thankfully, Sunderland didn't allow the defeat to get them down, so when Wednesday's official Twitter account posted the result online, the Black Cats responded with is quite possibly the funniest football club tweet of the year so far.
The tweet itself involved a comment from Facebook which has become a meme. If you don't know it, then sorry, we're not going to explain it. But trust us, it's very funny.
