After 11 remarkable years at Old Trafford, the metronomic Michael Carrick has been awarded with a well earned testimonial but in a move that’s typical of Carrick’s unassuming and quietly impressive style, he has decided to donate all of the money to charity.

Since joining United from Spurs, Carrick has been an integral part of the success that the club has enjoyed. During this time at United, the England midfielder has won five Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Champions League.

Even at the age of 35, Carrick remains an instrumental part of United’s team because there’s no denying that they’re a stronger team when he’s playing in their midfield.

On June 4th, United fans will have the chance to see some of their former heroes in action as Edwin Van Der Sar, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs all return to Old Trafford to take on an All-Stars team that features Steven Gerarrd, Frank Lampard, Michael Owen and more.

There’s a strong chance that grime artist Stormzy might also be lacing up his boots, especially since the talented rapper dropped by to surprise Carrick during his announcement this afternoon.

The rapper paid a special visit to United’s Aon Training Complex and he made a point of meeting the man of the hour.

United supporters will have the chance to meet Stormzy at Old Trafford thsi afternoon when he signs copies of his debut album at the Megastore, but it appears that despite the acclaim that he’s getting following the release of his record, Stormzy is just another United fan that gets starstruck at meeting an idol.

This is great.
