Steven Gerrard has identified Jordan Henderson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the first two players he wants to sign this summer.
Gerrard was officially unveiled as the new manager of Al-Ettifaq on Monday, signing a two-year deal with the Saudi Pro League side after initially turning them down.
The former Liverpool star returns to the dugout for the first time since being sacked by Aston Villa in October and following his return to management, is already making plans to bolster his squad.
As per the Daily Mail, Gerrard wants to reunite with his former teammate Henderson. The 33-year-old still has two years left on his contract so any move to bring him to the Middle East may prove to be difficult.
Forgotten striker Aubameyang is also under consideration, with the Gabon international desperate to leave Chelsea in a bid to revive his career.
After joining the Blues from Barcelona last September, the forward had a miserable time at Stamford Bridge, scoring just three goals in 21 appearances.
If a move comes to fruition, he would be the latest Chelsea player to make the move to Saudi Arabia after N’Golo Kanté, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy all completed moves earlier in the window.
Other Premier League names such as Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mané have also been linked with Al-Ettifaq but it remains to be seen if those links are solely down to their previous connections to Gerrard or if there is genuine interest.
