Steven Gerrard’s stint with Los Angeles Galaxy appears to be drawing to a close.

The midfielder is yet to announce his retirement but is expected to leave the US at the end of their season after hinting that his time in California is nearly up over the weekend.

It’s no great surprise that Gerrard is being linked with a return to Liverpool, the club at which he spent the majority of his playing career.

Although his exact role with the Anfield club is still being discussed, the Express report that manager Jurgen Klopp has paved the way for the the former club captain’s return.

“Steven Gerrard – and this will be a really big surprise – is always so welcome at Liverpool,” said Klopp earlier this week.

“Everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am.

“Nobody should be worried that we don’t have space for Steven Gerrard. Everything will be fine, 100 per cent.”

Gerrard made over 700 appearances for Liverpool before departing for America in 2015. Many expect him to take up a coaching role with the club’s academy players when he does confirm his retirement from playing.
