Rangers have defeated Russian side FC Ufa to qualify for the Europa League group stage in Steven Gerrard’s debut season at the club.

The Scottish Premiership side had two men sent off during their second leg qualifier, but managed to hold the home side to a 1-1 draw, seeing them progress with a 2-1 aggregate win after a 1-0 first leg victory.

Qualification for the group stage will see the club handed at least £10 million in prize money.

Rangers took the lead thanks to a superb goal from Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria, before the home side equalised on 33 minutes.

The second half then saw both Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan sent off, leaving Rangers with just nine men to fend off Ufa.

Fend them off they did though – despite significant pressure – and Gerrard’s side now find themselves in the draw for the group stage.
