Steven Gerrard may have to adjust his schedule with L.A Galaxy in order to watch the biggest club football game in Europe tonight.

The former Liverpool captain, like the rest of us, will be tuning into his TV later to see if Atleti win a maiden European Cup against their greatest, and most local, rivals, Real Madrid.

The clash of the two Spanish sides will be of particular interest to Gerrard, who has former team-mates on both sides.

Alvaro Arbeloa will be hoping to bow out on a high with Los Blancos, while Fernando Torres is looking to continue his fine scoring record against Real when he features for Atleti either as a starter, or off the bench.

Gerrard and Torres enjoyed an incredible productive spell at Anfield in the latter part of the last decade, and this afternoon the L.A Galaxy midfielder has wished the Spanish World Cup winner luck for tonight’s clash at the San Siro.

Torres of course has already won a Champions League medal from his time with Chelsea in 2012, but to win it with his boyhood club would be a wonderful way for him to wrap up his career.

One thing’s for sure, Atleti certainly have plenty of support in Milan.
