You can’t really blame Sterling here, to be fair
Raheem Sterling appeared to ignore a Manchester City shirt as he signed several Chelsea jerseys following his move to the London club this summer.
The 27-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Blues earlier this week, leaving City after spending seven years at the Etihad stadium.
Sterling thanked his former teammates, managers and the club’s fans in an emotional letter on social media once his transfer was confirmed.
However, the England international is now – understandably – keen to build a bond with his new supporters, and opted against signing a City shirt while on tour with Chelsea in the United States.
In a video posted on social media, the former Liverpool man can be seen signing shirts and posing for photographs with a number of excited Chelsea fans.
One person held up a City home shirt to be signed, however, Sterling appeared to ignore it – or, might not have actually seen it.
What you expect sterling to do 😭
Sign the city shirt and have Chelsea fans on him 😂 https://t.co/DJiMq8mMhX— Lelam4_ (@Lelam4_) July 17, 2022
Sterling linked up with the Chelsea squad prior to their opening pre-season friendly against Mexican side Club America, which the Blues won 2-1 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Blues secure victory in pre-season opener
Timo Werner gave Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead early on in the second half, before Reece James scored a bizarre own goal.
Mason Mount restored Chelsea’s advantage with a stunning strike, with the Blues holding on to secure a hard-fought victory.
Sterling did not feature in the match, but he could be set to make his Chelsea debut against Charlotte FC on Thursday.
The Blues begin their Premier League campaign away at Everton on August 6.
