Some Everton fans are very angry about their new shirt sponsor

It’s only a cartoon character

Everton has revealed a new sleeve sponsor today.

Their kit will now feature sponsorship from Angry Birds, the incredibly popular – and incredibly addictive – mobile game.

And while you might think being sponsored by a massive internationally-famous app might be a good thing for the club, the announcement has, how shall we say, ruffled the feathers of a few Everton fans.

Why? Because the Angry Birds mascot is a red bird, and of course Liverpool play in red and have the red Liver Bird on their crest. Everton’s social media were quick to point out that it’ll just be the Angry Birds logo on the kit, not an actual red bird.

That hasn’t stopped them getting some angry tweets though…

There are plenty of Evertonians who don’t see what the fuss is all about though.

Some even think Red could make the first team.
