Soccer AM is set to be axed at the end of the season after almost 30 years on TV as part of a drastic Sky Sports shake up.
The Sun reported that bosses made the decision to pull the popular Saturday morning show off air at the end of the year, with staff allegedly told of the decision on Tuesday.
A source told the paper that staff, who are now facing redundancy, were left "raging" by the news and that morale is "at an all time low".
Saturday Social, which features before Soccer AM, is set to take over as the main slot from next season in a bid to target a younger audience.
"Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers," said a Sky spokesperson.
"We now go into a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with our people. We are unable to provide more detail while these consultations are underway."
The popular show has been one of Sky's most popular programmes since it first aired in 1995, featuring a variety of segments as well as sit-down interviews with some of the games' biggest managers and players throughout the 90-minute comedy football show.
Hosts on the show have included the likes of Russ Williams, Helen Chamberlain, Tim Lovejoy and more recently John Fendley and ex-footballer, Jimmy Bullard.
